Flexy Legs: Active Flexibility Online

Mondays 8pm - 9pm (Irish Time): March 21st - April 18th 2022

This is an online class over a block of 5 weeks: Starting March 21st to April 18th. You can sign up for just one class, but you’ll get the full benefit of it if you sign up for all 5 classes.

Suitable for ALL levels, this class is for you if you want to level up your flexibility and achieve that ‘legs for days’ look while dancing. Active flexibility will help improve your spins, pirouettes, floorwork and inverted tricks. It will also help you to achieve better splits with the pole.

Active Flexibility is about building strength through a range of motion. Arlene will guide you through an intense warm-up and then onto exercises that are specifically targeted at lengthening leg lines and building strength, paying particular attention to glutes, calves, hamstrings, quads and hip flexors.

You will aim to build upon whatever flexibility you already have, whether you are a complete beginner or already have splits! Modifications will be given to suit different levels. You can always improve your lines no matter what level you are at. The aim is to help you to improve your range of motion so that you can take up more space and improve your lines when dancing.

There are no pre-requisites for this class, however if you are working with an injury please do email us in advance so that we can be aware of giving you specific modifications.

You will need: A yoga mat, yoga blocks (a cushion or nice fat book will also do the trick), a stretchy band (a scarf or jumper will also do if you don’t have one). If you have a chair or a pole, these can also be used. You should also switch on your camera so that Arlene can see you and give you modifications and feedback, and also so that you can see what you are doing. Please leave your microphone muted so as to minimize noise levels, unless you wish to ask a question. Pets are welcome to join you.
