‘The Sweets Of Sin’: Art Making

Here is a little glimpse into the making of my iconic chocolate stilettos!

This is definitely my favourite live art performance piece.

Performed for a handful of different audiences with a ‘fresh’ pair of chocolate heels each time, the act is an autobiographical exploration of identity and becoming.

Like all my live art, it also aims to evoke wonder at what a human body can do, as well as connection, reflexivity and immersive immediacy.

Most of all, smashing up my beautiful sculptural heels, smearing chocolate all over my body and sharing a bite to eat with the audience is such a joy. Each performance so far has been very different, all equally powerful in their own way as each audience brings it’s own energy.

The stilettos are made from milk chocolate and cacao butter, using a silicone mold that I made from an old pair of 8-inch Pleaser heels. They’re left to set overnight, and any excesses from the mold are carefully carved out.

I know how much people are enthralled by this act and these stilettos; I hope to perform it again soon! 🍫
